Welcome to the website for the
Stapleford & District Local History Society

We aim to encourage and support an interest in the history of the Stapleford Area and help conserve and archive material of local interest .

Stapleford is a town in the county of Nottinghamshire, England, some 9 kilometres (5.6 miles) west of the centre of Nottingham and Stapleford lies on the border between Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. To the north of Stapleford is Ilkeston and to the east is Beeston. To the west across the River Erewash is Sandiacre, and to the south is Toton.

Meetings are held monthly on the second Tuesday of the month at 7.30 pm in the St. Helen's Church Hall, Frederick Road, Stapleford
Unfortunately we have decided that we will have to abandon all the 2020 meetings and we will start again in the new year.
Please keep your eye on this website for new starting date.

-----

Apologies for all the cancellations.

We want to be absolutely sure that we are safe before we start again.

All the speakers we have had to cancel have said they will come next year.

-----

In the meantime we are at the moment conducting a project about all, the Stapleford people who fought in World War Two.

We have collected quite a bit if information already and hope to publish some on of it on this site soon.

PLEASE HELP. If you have any information at all about these people (relatives or friends) please let us know.

We would really appreciate any help you can give us.

Contact us either by email. phone or letter.
